Coffs Harbour Geek Radio (CHGRadio) is an ongoing internet radio project that began in 2005, went off the internet air waves in 2006-2007, to finally return in a version “2.0″  in 2008. Coffs Harbour Geek Radio has continued it’s ever improving journey through 2009 and now into 2010 and beyond.

Operated by Quincy The Quince Man Belmont, CHGRadio began as an internet radio station providing an alternative listening experience. Internet Radio for the Rest of Us. That is to say that, CHGRadio, is an internet radio station for the rest of us; whom are sick of the over commercialized main stream radio stations. (internet and terrestrial). Having said that, CHGRadio is not without it’s advertisements. With the help of many other people, it is thanks to them, that CHGRadio is still well and truly alive today.

CHGRadio is NOT a non profit organisation, however this project is also NOT a money spinner. We’re all in this to have fun and listen to our favorite tunes.

In November of 2009, Coffs Harbour Geek Radio has changed from being “The Coffs Coast Only Internet Only Radio Station” to “Australian’s Internet Only Youth Radio Station”. This slogan change begins a new era for Coffs Harbour Geek Radio (a “3.0″ if you will), inviting expressions of interest from new and experienced announcers or volunteers. Regardless of whether you have plenty of on air radio experience or absolutely none at all, we want you to come and join in the fun.

If you want to host your own show, with no strings attached and no limitations, Coffs Harbour Geek Radio is the place for you.

If you are tired of all the other main stream radio stations and network and their lack of originality, Coffs Harbour Geek Radio, is for you!

CHGRadio’s audio network is powered by some fantastic software created by the programming nerds at Spacial Audio. Coupled with a linux server hosted by RoyceSoftware and Nullsofts Shoutcast Server, CHGRadio is hitting the big time all around the world, giving experienced and new announcers the coverage and exposure they deserve.

CHGRadio’s live broadcasts originate from the location of the announcer. The software we use allows announcers and others who wish to take part in CHGRadio to do so from the comfort of their own homes, without the need to travel. Use the contact page if you are interested in joining the team. There are no special personal requirements at all. No experience necessary! What you do need is a broadband internet connection (256kbps up stream at least), a computer with a Mic and some music to play. No music? That’s ok, we can help you out there, and no, we’re not about to send you all our MP3s! We will also provide you with the necessary software and help you get it setup and working with our network.

Having said all that, we hope that you enjoy everything that CHGRadio has to offer. It’s taken a long time to get CHGRadio to this point, however we are chugging along full steam ahead with a growing team of fantastic volunteers and announcers.
